There is a big difference between not being sick, and being at your best health.<br /><br />Also, the RDA was created after food manufacturers complained that the MDR was too high and they couldn't look good according to their guidelines. <br /><br />The MDR (minimum daily requirements) were defined as the minimum nutrients you would require to sustain life. NOT TO BE HEALTHY, but just to stay alive. When cereal makers couldn't leave enough nutrients in to meet the MDR, the FDA created the RDA so they would look better.
